Our research focuses on brain mechanisms involved in directing attention, retaining memories and driving motivation. We study how attention, memory and motivation work in healthy people and how they break down in patients with Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, stroke and vascular dementia.

Why do we sometimes fail to pay attention or forget things over seconds? Why do some people make impulsive decisions whereas others simply can't be bothered to act? We study attention, memory and motivation in health and disease.
In stroke and vascular dementia, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease, these cognitive functions can go awry, leading to devastating effects.
